Special Wire and Cable > Fire-Resistant Cable
Fire-Resistant RS485 Data Cable
Designed as a circuit-integrity wiring cable for fire alarm systems, this fire-resistant RS485 data cable is compatible with all leading connection systems complying with EN 50173. Available in 1, 2 or 4-pair versions, it continues transmitting data even when directly exposed to fire, while its low-capacitance insulation supports high-speed, interference-free data transmission.
Four shielding configurations are available — single overall screen, double overall screen, individual + overall screen (PiMF), and braided overall screen — to match different EMC and installation requirements, all sharing the same fire performance and LSZH sheath construction.

Conductor
Tinned copper wire, stranded, complying with IEC(EN) 60228 class 2, common to all 4 shielding variants.
Insulation & Pair Twisting
Polyethylene wrapped with mica tape (or silicone rubber-insulated polyethylene), twisted with varying lay lengths per pair to minimize crosstalk, with non-hygroscopic filler.
Variant 1 — Overall Screen
RE-m02Y(ST)H-FR family: aluminum/polyester tape overall screen with tinned copper drain wire.
Variant 2 — Double Overall Screen
RE-02Y(ST)CH-FR: aluminum/polyester tape combined with an outer braided copper wire screen for enhanced EMC performance.
Variant 3 — Individual + Overall Screen (PiMF)
RE-02Y(ST)H pimf-FR: single-layer aluminum/polyester tape shielding each pair, plus a braided copper wire overall screen.
Variant 4 & Outer Sheath
RE-02YCH-FR uses a braided copper wire overall screen only. All variants share an LSZH outer sheath per BS 7652 §6.1 LTS3 class, with no armour layer.
